OUR STRATEGIES
To succeed, first, as already discussed, we must know our opponent.
Second, we must rebrand ourselves in our own image. The government does not give the citizens their rights, despite what you are hearing from our contemporary politicians. With our inalienable rights intact, it is we who give power to the state. This means we need to stop “going to” the government and “begging” for what is already ours. Start asserting yourself from where you are and who you are…boss.
Next, one of the greatest tactics of any tyrant is to try to make you feel isolated. Again, attending large anti-tax, anti-government encroachment rallies is great. But, this is absolutely no substitute for community roots. Use websites like http://twitter.com and http”//meetup.com to find local allies. These people will welcome the opportunity to talk local issues and local strategy.
Join or start a discussion group. If you are not sure what to discuss, make it a reading club and discuss one political book per week. Or take turns monitoring your state and local government websites. Then learn and teach each other what is happening in your locale.
Fourth, Don’t allow yourself to feel overwhelmed. You do not need to single handedly fix the world. Find one issue, become an expert. Put all your passion into that. Find at least two other people that share your issue of interest. These people will become your support system and mini- think tank.
Fifth, Spread the word using e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, My Space, etc about the Liberty Fulcrum website and its tools/ agenda of focus on local targets, purity of message, and use of steady pressure.
Please print out a half dozen copies of the “Beating of the Drums” article. (Securing Store Owner/Office Manager’s permission)—Please post it at your office, your doctor/dentist/vet’s office, your supermarket, your campus info board, your church/ temple bulletin board, and/or tape a copy to the inside of your driver’s side rear car window.
Sixth, Drum every night for the five minute solidarity. If you don’t have a drum, use a pot or a plastic or cardboard container. Clap together two blocks of wood. And don’t worry if you start out alone. This activity will attract some attention. Most of the attention will be reaffirming. But, there will be neighbors who don’t agree with you.
If you don’t feel articulate or don’t want to engage in potentially hostile conversations, just keep a “Sampling of Issues” printout on hand to post or give away. If the people who disagree persist in confrontation, just smile and say “isn’t it nice that we can respectfully disagree.” Blow them a kiss, maybe a wink and wish them a pleasant but dismissive “Have a Good Evening.” You do not have to win over the entire country or even the entire neighborhood. The American Revolution was fought with only one third of the nation belonging to the Patriot cause.
Seventh, Call friends and family to participate in small impromptu rallies in the shopping mall lot, in front of city hall, by the highway on-ramp. Make discontent visible. But, make sure you are peaceful. In fact, have fun when ever and where ever you can. Fun, in addition to gluing your own group together, attracts others.
Finally, use the tools and strategies provided by Liberty Fulcrum. We need to operate en mass and in lock step as often as possible.
To set up your LF toolbox you will need to do a little preliminary research. Use the websites we have provided in the LF Correspondence section to get e-mail and postal addresses and/or phone numbers for the elected officials specific to your location. The most important of those will be the town Republican and town Democratic chairpersons. Make sure you also have addresses for your mayor (First Selectman), both State House and State Senate legislators, your Governor and your federal congressperson. You will also need information for your local newspaper and any other local media you would like to have on the ready..
By placing these contacts in your rolodex or address book, the information will always be there for easy, rapid access.
